Program Notes
Catamount Chaos was commissioned by the Panther Creek High School Wind Ensemble (David Robinson, director) in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the school and the 30th anniversary of teaching for the director. The title is taken directly from the name of the student cheering section at PCHS football games – a source of great pride for the students and principal alike. Much of the musical material is derived from the school’s alma mater, which uses the popular tune “Annie Lisle” by H.S. Thompson – sometimes fragmented, often re-harmonized, and usually rhythmically altered.
